Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are AMA and SAM?
A: Two important modeler organizations. See our Links page for their web site addresses (left menu).

Q: How do I get started in RC Flying?
A: Skyblazers' members share camaraderie in building and flying models. New members, and those new to radio controlled (RC) model flight are always welcome at meetings or at Strawberry Field. Assistance in selecting equipment, building, and flying instruction is available in an informal club atmosphere.

Learning to fly an RC model requires the right equipment (model, engine, radio with a buddy box system) and a significant outlay of time. Just as in full scale aviation, students should start with a model specifically designed for training.  Club members will offer suggestions & assistance.

Q: When and where does the club meet?
A: Club meetings are on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30 pm at the Galloway Township Library, 306 E. Jimmie Leeds Rd., Galloway Township, NJ 08205 - (609) 652-2352. Guests are welcome at meeting and also as spectators at the club's flying field, Strawberry Field, in Hamilton Township. There are no scheduled flying hours at the field but when the weather is good, you are most likely to find flying in progress on weekends and weekday mornings & evenings.
