SkyBlazers Operating Procedures for Strawberry Field

  March 3, 2004 (with minor revisions from meeting)

 

 

1.  Model operation shall be in accordance with the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) Safety Code. Initial____

 

2 All SkyBlazers must complete this form in it’s entirety, initials, signature ect., to be eligible to fly at strawberry field.  Members inviting a guest to fly must ensure the guest pilot has a current AMA license, is qualified to fly solo, and is briefed on field procedures.   Initial_____

 

3.    Children must be closely supervised and away from aircraft being started, or running.  Initial_____

 

4. Pets should not be on the field/pit area unless leashed, and owners clean up after them.  Initial____

 

5.  Cellular Phones/Pagers are not permitted in the pit or flight line area.  (The possibility exists of them corrupting critical data in transmitters.)  Initial_____

 

6.    Parking and pit areas are as marked on the flight line layout drawing.  (Cars no closer than 100 feet to runway edge, start stands no closer than 60 feet from runway edge.) Please make sure to educate members/visitors if necessary. Pilots should be on a flying pad while flying.    Initial_____

 

7.  Model flying is permitted even when (typically about six weeks in March-April) an aircraft is stationed at the field. On any day or time when full scale activity is high, do not fly.  Notices to include No RC Flying days/times may be on the frequency control and bulletin board.  Check for notices before flying.  Initial_____

 

8.  A single frequency control and bulletin board is used for both flight lines. No transmitter may be turned on without having the proper frequency control pin on it including 2.4 MHZ.  When taking a frequency pin, pilots should leave their SkyBlazers Membership card in its place. Guests should leave their AMA card.  When other pilots are waiting, limit use of a frequency to 15 minutes.  Initial_____

 

 

9. Fixed wing aircraft will be flown only from the fixed wing

flight line area.  Helicopters will be flown only from the

helicopter flight line area. (The club may make exceptions for

special events.) No flying behind the extended flight line at either

site. Flight patterns with sharp turns pointed at the pit area are

10. Be constantly on watch for full-scale aircraft.  Give way immediately by landing, to an aircraft appearing to land or take off at Strawberry.  Follow any direction provided by Forestry Service personnel.  Initial_____

 

11.    Transmitters and receivers must meet 1991 RCMA and AMA guidelines.  All frequencies allocated for model aircraft by the FCC may be used at Strawberry field. (includes 2.4GHZ)   Initial_____

 

12. Models shall not be taxied in pit areas without hands on restraint by the pilot or pit crew.  Initial_____

 

13. All engines over .15 sizes must have effective mufflers. Exception: Society of Antique Models (SAM) may be flown in competition or competition practice without mufflers.   Initial_____

 

14. All members should correct unsafe flying or conditions, on the spot. (Lets keep it courteous on the giving and receiving end of such discussions.  If there is a difference of opinion, error on the side of safety on the spot, and raise the question to the Strawberry Field Coordinator) Persistent problems should be reported to the Strawberry Field Coordinator.  Initial_____

 

  15. Leave the field cleaner than when you came, pick up after  

  others if necessary.  Cigarette butts are trash too, if you

  smoke em’ take em’ with you.  Initial_____

 

  16. Last member leaving the field must lock the entrance gate.

 

17.  Maintain a watch of Strawberry Field, it’s equipment and

buildings, for vandalism or suspicious behavior.  Report such activity as soon as possible to Ed Milewski 609 567-0456 or Ron Lockhart.  Initial____
