Hello Everyone:

We accomplished a lot in Muncie for the April Executive Council Meeting, including finding a new Executive Director in Dave Mathewson.  Dave will step down as President and take over the job as ED by June 1st.   Dave understands the culture, the people, our long term strategic plan and will do an outstanding job for our members.  He will move to Muncie, IN by June.  Mark Smith, our Executive Vice President will assume the duties of President until a special election can be held this fall.

Here are a few other noteworthy items that passed.

1.  We passed the guidelines required for our members to safely fly autonomously.  They have to download the rules from AMA's website and complete the application shown on the back of the form and send it to AMA to obtain a permit.  Currently this has to be done annually for each aircraft.

2.  We approved the digitizing and development of searchable archives, where all Model Aviation magazines will be on-line, from 1975 to present.  This should be complete by May 1, 2012 or sooner.  Members will be able to search for articles, information, etc. and the complete magazines from cover to cover will be on-line.

3.  As of July 1, 2011 we will have an on-line version of Model Aviation.  This is not quite the same as item #2 above.  This program will take some article information from the current issue of Model Aviation, and also include other current topics that might not be in MA magazine.  We will also be posting videos and other forms of modeling information each month.

4.  We also passed including non-sensitive Executive Council Meeting agenda documentation, together with the EC agenda for Leader Members.  We will establish a separate Leader Member only tab located in our Members Only Section.  Only Leader Members will be able to access this information and they will have to sign in and agree to the terms before downloading this information.  This will allow our members to contact their District VP and provide their input, prior to the EC taking action at each EC Meeting.

A lot was accomplished and all to enhance our members ability to obtain information and communicate with their leadership.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best Regards,

Gary
