On July 14th a survey meant for all Leader Members (LM) was included in July’s edition of AMA Today. The rationale for the survey was to gather data and insight on what direction the committee should go in support of our mission statement based on the input of LMs across the Academy. The survey questions were developed from a list of 22 goals that the committee has been brainstorming. A problem we noted right away was that the survey sent in the AMA Today did not reach all 2,547 LMs due to many of our LMs not having current email addresses. LM's, based on their status in the AMA, have a responsibility to keep up to date with what is happening in the AMA modeling community. Information being shared between LMs, DVPs, AVPs and from HQ is regularly sent via email. Not having a valid email address compromises a LMs ability to stay current on the latest events in the AMA and aeromodeling. To rectify this problem our committee has started a multi-pronged approach to reach out and contact all LMs and have them update their contact information with the AMA, especially their email address, which is the most convenient method for communication for both the sender and receiver. Verify that your email address and contact information is current and if not please ensure it is updated by calling the AMA at (800) 435-9262 or email the membership department with the updates at

Additionally, the Executive Council voted in January of this year to send each EC Meeting Agenda to all Leader Members in advance of each meeting. The purpose is to further engage this vital group of members and to encourage their input with each District Vice President. |

This is a letter received from AMA's Marketing Director - Jeff Nance: On May 24th, Dave Mathewson, Jim Cherry, Rob Kurek and I met with the staff from EAA including Tom Poberezny to discuss various projects to sign a Memo of Understanding outlining our new partnership. This is an exciting opportunity for the AMA to partner with EAA long term on many initiatives especially a free combined AMA and EAA student membership with full benefits from each organization. Every year the 80,000 young people take a ride in a full scale airplane via EAA’s Young Eagle program. Of those 80,000 young people, 20,000 sign up for a student membership. As a result of this partnership, the AMA will be able to reach and promote model flying to these young people at little cost freeing up resources to target and market to adults age 50 plus. Other short term initiatives include a special AMA/EAA reception Sunday before AirVenture begins on Monday to open model flying exhibit in their museum. Michael Smith worked on this exhibit. In addition to Team AMA Northern Aces with their model building area at KidsVenture, AMA will have a significant booth inside the EAA museum next to the model flying exhibit. During AirVenture, 60,000 people visit the museum. Each organization will be releasing press releases to the media. Attached is a photo of the MOU signing and a copy of the MOU. Please do not forward the MOU to anyone. Thank you for your support in the development of this partnership. All thoughts and ideas are welcome on how we can further our new partnership with the EAA. |

Attention All Clubs Now that the flying season is underway, I am sure your club has an event that you would like to advertise. Make sure you put your club event on the AMA District II Website. We currently have quite a few events listed and a lot of clubs are placing an event every day. This is a good way to get your event noticed by other local clubs and get more people to your Club Sponsored Event. |

About the Website
Welcome to the new AMA District II Website. We needed to make this change to update our software for the forum. Everything is still available on the website so take a look around to find your old favorites. Your old login should still work, if there is an issue, please send an email to the Webmaster. If your club is having an event, send the webmaster an email with the information and we will post the event on the calendar for you. There is still a lot of work to go on this, so any suggestions are welcome. I will be adding modules to the site from time to time to make it better. There are a few bugs still left in the site, and I am working on them. This website is a work in progress and will always be updated to keep District II on top. Thanks, Ray Kappes, Webmaster of AMA District II Website CONTACT District II Webmaster
