December 15, 2007– 3:07PM –The home of Gary and Debi Howe, Groton, NY
CAMS Meeting Minutes
Attendance: Ron Leopardi, June Leopardi, Dan Hutchings, Dorothy Hutchings, Gary Howe, Debi Howe, Steve Lissberger, Lisa Lissberger, Wilber Turner, Marge Turner, Cyle Glover, Debbie Glover-Osinski and Paul Osinski.
Paul Osinski called the meeting to order at 3:07PM in Erick’s and John’s absence.
Treasurer’s report was read, motion to accept made by Wilber and seconded by Debi Howe.
Old Business:
Nothing to report.
New Business:
Steve proposed a designated start area away from the runway. In addition to having taxi ways on the right of the start areas. To insure that taxing is done in the taxi way only, it was suggested that the grass be left long in the pit area other than the taxi way and start areas. This measure is to avoid starting on the runway.
Two proposed safety rule changes:
1.) 3D pilots: The following proposed Rule change only applies when more than one plane is in the air. Gas and large electric 3D flying done beyond the cut area of the landing strip. Small electric 3D pilots use the area to the right of the runway. Doing this will help the pilots flying in pattern to avoid distraction and possible mid air crash.
Helicopter pilots: The following proposed Rule change only applies when more than one plane is in the air. Pilot to make a courtesy call before flying. After the call, no more planes to take off and copter pilot wait for all planes to land. Copter pilot to fly without any other aircraft in the air. After the helicopter is done, normal flying to commence. Doing this will help the pilots flying in pattern to avoid distraction and possible mid air crash at landing.
Suggestion was made to hire someone to cut the field instead of having a mowing roster. Wilber Turner mentioned he might be interested as he is retiring this spring and should have the time. Further discussion at future meetings.
Fund Raising: A pancake breakfast will be looked into that would be held at the Elks Lodge. C.A.M.S. Members would be needed to help with the duties. A 50/50 raffle would also be held.
Steve Lissberger will look into the price of a new lawn tractor and report at the next meeting.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made at 4:02 pm. Debi Howe accepted the motion and Marge followed with a second.
