Permission to fly at almost all club or municipal flying fields requires Academy of Model Aeronautics membership, which provides supplemental insurance. It includes a subscription to Model Aviation magazine. Since AMA membership runs from January to December, join as soon as possible so that you don't miss out.
The flying field is located behind Middlesex County College off of Woodbridge Avenue in Edison. From Woodbridge Avenue, turn onto Mill Road. Yahoo Map
Make a left onto Patrol Raod into Thomas Edison Park. Proceed approximately ½ mile to the field gate. Make a right turn through the gate, parking lot down on the right.
See the CJRCC for a flying permit.
There is a RC model airplane field at North Branch park in Branchburg. See the park office about getting a flying permit, $15 for Somerset County residents, $30 for non-residents.
From 22 west coming from Somerville, you need to go south on Milltown Road, but you cannot make a left at the light. Either turn around at the next exit, or you can cross over on the median a little further up. Once on Milltown road, follow it down about a mile until there is a right turn that goes under a railroad trestle. Take this right, which is still Milltown road. The 2nd right is a parking area for the flying field, which is set back into the park.
