Empire State Free Flight Champs, Contest Director’s Report |
| THANK-YOU TO ALL OF THE FOLLOWING ! I REALLY NEEDED A TEAM EFFORT
TO MAKE THIS WORK . Bob Rambo - Assistant CD. He helped more than he knew. John Clapp - Managed the FAI events , and did an excellent job. Vet Thomas - Scale Judging for the FAC events. Jack Barker - Arranging for the “Necessary” and also helped me understand and file the FAC Report. The Trophy Team : Joe and Heather Mollendorf , Brad and Ruth Bane . Rod and Ruth Mogle, Priscilla Whitford Special thanks to Priscilla Whitford who spent 2.9 days behind the desk and insisted that it was fun. The weather was typical of Geneseo. Friday at 9AM rain for about an hour then clearing and light winds with 5-7 mph gusts the rest of the day. Saturday- breezy, gusting 5-9 MPH. Sunny and warm. Sunday - early morning rain, stopped by 7AM. Wind steady from the west at 5 MPH; gusting to 9 MPH again . The attendance was up this year w/46 registered. Five of those who registered did not compete. We thank you for your support! Compared to last year , it was good to see a longer and active flight line . It was also good to see John Carls on that flight line giving his squadron some exercise. The Saturday night dinner was well attended by 44 hungry people who seemed very satisfied by the fare. We had a brief thank-you to all by W.N.Y.F.F.S. President Brad Bane and most retired to our respective lodging to rest up for the challenges of the next day . At about noon on Sunday , our friends from Ontario brought some refreshment to the control center to celebrate my first event as Contest Director . I thank them sincerely for their thoughtfulness! There were five events that had zero (0) entries. This was especially disappointing as three of those were Junior events. We had increased our Junior events from two to four this year in an effort to provide them more opportunity. Not to be last but not least, the 50-50 Raffle was won by Vet Thomas who donated his winnings back to W.N.Y.F.F.S. THANK-YOU Vet. Lyle Whitford |
