Contest Directors’s Comments: |
|||||
| First I would like to thank those who provided assistance at the contest; John Clapp and his wife Sally for
watching over the FAI events; Priscilla for watching over me at the registration and recording table; Jim, Mark,
Jack and Bob who helped me to understand the FAC rules; even though we have done this before. Brad and
Jim Anderson on the radio calling the times in when the flight line was forced to move because the wind
changed (as it always does in Geneseo). Then there were the participants, who maintained a pleasant attitude
even when things didn’t go just right; like the “Senator” that went five miles to find a tree to climb, or the T-Bird
that nestled into the tree in Geneseo village. The weather was cooperative (I guess). The wind went from light
drift from the south on Friday morning to a pretty steady 9 - 11mph breeze from the NW on Saturday morning. But wait, if you don’t like what you have the breeze diminished to light gusts Saturday afternoon. Turned out quite good for the rest of that day. Sunday we were back to southerly breezes for the most part which were light at times. The 50/50 raffle was won by Mark Rzadca who donated a substantial portion back to WNYFFS. Thank You Mark! The Saturday night dinner at the Yard of Ale was enjoyed by thirty hungry people and the dinner seemed to me to be the best that they had offered. (Or perhaps I was extra hungry). We had some words from the CD and some words of wisdom from our President Brad Bane. Jim Anderson also reminded us that the “Great Grape Gathering” is coming up September 21, 22, and 23 at the Geneseo airport. Mark your calendars. That is all from this side of the desk, THANK-YOU to all who participated and made this a successful event! Lyle |
